As a book designer, I’m always looking for the perfect text typeface. I’ve drawn many display types over the years for use on my book covers, and finally decided to draw my dream text typeface. I took an ahistorical pastiche approach, combining features from some of my favorite typefaces in an unorthodox but cohesive way. The mix of wedge terminals, ball terminals, Dutch-style asymmetrical serifs and even Bembo’s curved “n” counterform gives a page a rich texture. I’ve also started on some variations; a bold egyptian (good for call outs and headers) and a monoline slab (good for block quotes and captions).
